Capturing a moment of change, an object in motion, the state of flux. The project was an exploration of kinetic glaze. The glazes were formulated with an abundance of fluxing materials so that in the kiln the glaze would move and run down the pieces, forming ribbons of colour and when it reaches the end forms drips. The forms are twisted and spiralled pieces of porcelain that have been hand crafted. They have been assembled into pairs whose forms lend balance to each other.

I created five base glazes to use in this project, this piece illustrates each in its solitary form, unaffected by any of the others.

The way the glaze forms makes each piece unique; creating different ripples of colour each time. This piece blends a very strong base glaze with a very pure glaze.
